Our Mission
Our Suzuki-inspired collaboration provides a sense of community and common purpose for the families and teachers who participate in our endeavors. Our members are all bona-fide Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA)-registered teachers as well as one member also an SAA Teacher Trainer.
We endeavor to bring the highest possible quality of music education experience to families in our local communities regardless of income or prior musical background. The activities of the Mid-Hudson Suzuki Music Collaborative directly reflect our ongoing commitment to continue Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s mission to nurture beautiful hearts and individual abilities while enriching and supporting family structures through quality music education.
The Suzuki Method is a philosophy and approach to teaching developed by Shinichi Suzuki. SAA-registered teachers are music educators trained through SAA coursework to incorporate Suzuki Method principles into all their endeavors. Suzuki-trained teachers prioritize character development alongside musical ability, fostering a nurturing learning environment for students and their families. They emphasize early childhood learning, listening, and parental involvement creating a supportive family-centered community for musicians of all ages.
SAA Teacher Trainers are highly experienced and qualified Suzuki Method instructors who are authorized to train other teachers in the Suzuki philosophy and pedagogy. They have completed rigorous training, including specific SAA-approved courses and have a deep understanding of the Suzuki approach to music education. They play a crucial role in developing and supporting Suzuki teachers and the wider Suzuki community.
Our collaborations provide performances and valuable musical education opportunities to our students to help ensure a positive character-building experience for both students and their families in their musical journey.
